bandhole

History

What is Bandhole? Bandhole is the name of a small garden shed in my backyard. Not very glamorous, but that hasn't stopped the endless supply of original music that has been created there.

What started out as a tiny shed filled with the remnants of the previous owner, Bandhole has evolved into a mini-studio capable of allowing up to 4 performers to record simultaneously and silently, thanks to digital production and a solid headphone distribution system.

Over the years many bands have helped shape Bandhole into what it is, including: Carusoe, The Habaneros, JAGOF, BDIC, Always Sometimes, the Furious Weasels, hi-fi Marauders, and the eponymous Bandhole. Many of these bands have samples that you can hear on this site.

About Jay

I'm the drummer for Carusoe and the Habaneros, a PHP developer, Mac evangelist, and video game junkie. I was influenced by the Beatles at an early age, and spent my entire life surrounded by music. As a classically trained pianist, clarinetist, and saxophonist I've played in wind ensembles, jazz bands, rock bands, country bands, marching bands, basketball bands, weddings, clubs, bars, The Meyerson, schools, lots of living rooms, the great outdoors, and a garden shed.

After college I took a brief musical hiatus for a couple of years before beginning construction on the Bandhole. In addition to performing in all of the previously-mentioned bands, I have composed many solo pieces and am now concentrating on composition, production, performance, and education.
